Principal Interior Designer

Bachelor of Interior Design, Ryerson University, Toronto, ON

Jodi’s work is best described as approachable, strategic, concise and dedicated. With over 34 years of professional experience, Jodi has designed commercial interior spaces varying in size from 500 to 200,000 square feet as well as a wide range of custom residential homes. Ms. McKeown Foster has worked within the Interior Design divisions of respected commercial architectural firms in St. John’s, Toronto and Vancouver, as well as within the rigorous corporate structures of New York City.

With jodi foster design + planning, Jodi combines her experience in commercial interiors and current work in residential design to intentionally create timeless “lifetime” spaces.

Functionality is a core value of what we do. We are dedicated to professionally creating spaces that are beautiful, timeless and highly personal.

As a full service boutique interior design firm with a focus on the built environment, we offer complete CAD documentation and coordination with all required consultants, including architectural, structural and mechanical engineering, surveyors, landscape designers as well as lighting + audio visual experts. The following is an overall outline of design services, organized by phase:

concept + schematic design

age-in-place assessment

Assessing your current residence (or planning for new construction) to address the modification or adaptation of your home as you mature, to increase access and maneuverability. The goal here is to create a “lifetime home”, designing an aesthetically-enriching and barrier-free living space.

design development

colour + materials selection
furniture plans
lighting plans + ceiling concepts
fixtures, equipment + hardware selection
door + window schedules
preliminary drawing package + design details

construction documents

Development and finalization of the construction drawing package for pricing, permit application or builder use, including: floor plans, finish plans, furniture plans, reflected ceiling plans, mechanical electrical plans, elevations + construction details.

Specifications for: finishes; furniture, fixtures + equipment; hardware, doors + windows.

project administration

Facilitation of the construction process, including:
coordinating construction and trade queries; clarifications and/or changes;
site visits + meetings; site review and follow up to ensure compliance with design intent;
final site review; deficiency list and follow up to ensure desired outcome.

turn-key coordination

After the dust settles, everything you need to move in and help make your house a home, including: selections of furniture, art and accessories, linens and housewares; coordination with suppliers and assistance with purchasing; supervision of furniture, art and accessories installations.
